Jen Boardman

Jen grew up in Yorkshire and trained as a teacher in Birmingham in the 1970s.  Always passionate about drawing, she was rarely seen without a sketchbook in her formative years.  This led to many commissioned portraits, mostly pastel paintings and, after marrying into the RAF, a demand for paintings of military aircraft.  Her paintings from this time are in private collections in the UK and abroad, including the permanent collection of the Officers’ Mess, RAF Honington.

Jen’s abiding interest in the figure now incorporates both life drawing and life modelling in clay.  She gained a First Class BA Honours Degree in 2002 from Chichester University where she was awarded The Wiley Prize for outstanding academic achievement.

She was also shortlisted for the Unilever Fresh Art Award in 2002.  Work completed during this time included the use of digital photography and video.

Although recently commissioned to produce a Memorial Sculpture for the 40th Anniversary of Sunhill Infant School, Alresford, she now prefers to produce work for her own interest using cement, plaster and resin as well as fulfilling a life-long interest in stop motion, experimental and digital animation.
