Hilary Marchant

Having studied graphics & photography at Southampton School of Art in 1967 Hilary then enrolled as a mature student at Surrey Institute of Art and Design, Farnham and achieved a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art in 2000. This was an exciting journey into the world of contemporary art. Following her degree she gained an MA in Printmaking at Winchester School of Art in 2001.

Hilary has been teaching art for several years, specialising in watercolours and has also given a variety of workshops in acrylics, life drawing and pastel drawing. Her work varies from painting and printmaking to conceptual pieces.

She exhibits with a group of artists who formed after studying together at Farnham. She recently joined the Wessex Sculptors and has enjoyed the challenges of working in 3D and learning new skills of woodcarving. She works with found pieces of wood, creating interesting abstract sculptures.
